Lucas Fonseca is a Brazilian space entrepreneur, engineer, and consultant focused on the development of the space economy in emerging markets. He holds a Master’s degree in Space Systems Engineering from ISAE-SUPAERO in France. He is the Founder & CEO of Airvantis, a company working at the intersection of space strategy, innovation, investment, and ecosystem development, and Co-Founder & CEO of Stratolit, a Brazilian technology company developing remote environmental monitoring systems with terrestrial and satellite connectivity.
Lucas previously worked at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and contributed to the European Space Agency’s Rosetta mission, supporting trajectory and dynamics calculations related to the Philae lander’s historic touchdown on comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
He is also the founder of Instituto Garatéa, which leads the first lunar mission proposed by Brazil and develops educational programs connected to space. Through Garatéa, Lucas has helped bring space science and exploration closer to thousands of students across Brazil.
He has advised public and private institutions on space policy, innovation, and ecosystem-building, including work connected to national space economy strategies and international cooperation. He also worked as an external consultant on space economy initiatives for the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA). Each year, he organizes the Space Industry Workshop in Brazil in partnership with the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), bringing together leaders from across the Brazilian and international space sectors.
Lucas was recognized by the International Institute of Space Commerce as part of its “35 Under 35” list.
