Masami Onoda

Masami Onoda is currently Director of JAXA Washington D.C. Office, representing Japanese space to the U.S. and Americas. She has extensive experience in international affairs, space policy, satellite applications and industry relations in the field of space. She has held several international positions, including at the intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, and at the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in Vienna, Austria.
While pursuing her graduate studies, she was invited to operate the JAXA Kansai Satellite Office in Higashiosaka, Japan, and worked with SMEs on small satellite technology transfer. Masami Onoda holds a Ph.D. in Global Environmental Studies (2009) and master’s degree in environmental management, both from the Kyoto University Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies, and a BA in international relations from the University of Tokyo.
