Shuai Huang is Vice President and Chief Engineer of Orienspace Technology Co., Ltd., where he serves as Chief Designer of the Gravity-2 reusable medium-to-heavy lift launch vehicle. He is also an expert in the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province and the Deputy Director of the Shandong Innovation Center of Sea Launch and Reuse Technology for Launch Vehicles.
Huang earned his master's degree in Aircraft Design Engineering from CASIC, which is the backbone of China's aerospace industry. With fifteen years of experience in launch vehicle development, he has dedicated his career to advancing reusable space transportation and lowering the cost of access to space. His work has earned him the China Youth May Fourth Medal, the Special Prize for Science and Technology from CASIC, and many other awards.
Huang joined Orienspace in 2021. As Deputy Chief Designer, he led the successful development and maiden flight of the Gravity-1 launch vehicle, which set records as the world's largest solid launch vehicle in service, the world's first offshore-launched bundled rocket, and China's largest private commercial launch vehicle. Since 2024, Huang has led the overall design and key technology development of the Gravity-2 medium-to-heavy class reusable launch vehicle, expanding low-cost and large-scale launch capabilities for large satellite constellation deployment and promoting the development of space science and technology.
Huang is passionate about leveraging commercial space innovation to support global sustainable development goals, and believes that open dialogue and cross-border cooperation are essential to shaping an inclusive future for space.
