Fani Kallianou de Jong

Principal Manager
European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)

Fani has spent over 20 years at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in multiple capacities, and is currently working in the Climate Strategy and Delivery department. 


She oversees the implementation of green credit lines in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean, engages on policy dialogue activities, and promotes green and digital investments across industries.
Since 2003, Fani has been actively developing the Space topic across the Bank and across teams. Within her scope of work, Fani has been identifying related business opportunities, building institutional partnerships with key Space stakeholders and exploring ways to integrate space technology and space-related solutions for Climate Action and supporting SDGs.

She chairs the ‘Space for Green Future Accelerator’ Working Group - launched by the European Space Agency (ESA) together with green transition partners such as the EU and International Financial Institutions - and is an active member of the IAF’s Sustainability Task Force and 'Space: The Big Picture' initiative.With an academic background in Economics and International Business Economics, Fani completed the Executive Space Course at the International Space University (ISU) in Strasbourg and attended the ‘Smart Space MBA Elective’ at the University of Oxford as part of The Karman Project.

Fani was born Greek in Hamburg, Germany, grew up in Brussels, Belgium and leaves in London, UK. She is a keen polyglot and apart from English, she is fluent in French, Greek, Spanish, has a good command of Dutch and is learning Arabic.
