The Karman Project and Club for the Future Expand Space Education and Inspiration Across 17 Countries

In 2024, The Karman Project and Club for the Future began a formal collaboration built on a shared mission: to inspire and mobilise future generations to pursue careers in STEAM, while strengthening global capacity through access to space-focused education. The partnership places particular focus on developing regions and emerging space ecosystems. In its first two years, the collaboration advanced global space education, leadership development, and international engagement across multiple regions.

Forty-five leaders from the Karman Community took part in Club for the Future programming, representing 31 countries, including 19 developing and emerging space nations. Activities were completed or planned in 17 countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America. Through workshops, classroom activations, summits, and international convenings, the partnership has reached more than 1,800 students to date. Participants ranged from primary school students to university learners and early-career researchers, with a strong focus on underserved, underrepresented, and remote communities. Sessions introduced students to space science and satellites, space careers and entrepreneurship, and future workforce skills. Many included hands-on components such as payload design, coding, rover design, robotics, and Earth observation. Discussions also explored humanity’s future in space and responsible space development, solidifying the partnership as a future-focused capacity and skills development endeavor.

Launch a Dream Challenge

To support structured participation, The Karman Project launched the Launch a Dream Challenge, running from May to August 2025. The initiative mobilised Karman Fellows, Karman Pioneers, and alumni to bring Postcards to Space and Club for the Future educational materials into classrooms and community settings in their home regions. Outreach prioritised developing regions, emerging space ecosystems, and First Nations communities, in line with both organisations’ missions.

We’re pleased to announce that Karman Pioneer Anna Cammaro of Indonesia was unanimously selected by Club for the Future and The Karman Project as the Winner of the Launch a Dream Challenge, in recognition of the extraordinary scope of her outreach and the depth of her impact. This distinction reflects not only the scale of the work, but the meaningful inspiration Cammaro brought and continues to bring to students across Indonesia. Club for the Future has committed to sending Blue Origin representatives to Indonesia for an event with students, which Cammaro plans to hold in August 2026.

Activation Stories Around the World

Algeria

2024 Karman Fellow Salah Eddine Bentata delivered a Space4Kids workshop in Oran, Algeria, as part of a summer camp organised by Spectra School. More than 150 children aged 6 to 12 participated in sessions delivered in Arabic, English, and French. Activities included introductions to satellite concepts, orbit demonstrations, and collaborative postcard creation.

Lithuania

Karman Pioneer Dominykas Milašiūnas hosted an activation during a six-week summer internship programme, supported by the Kazickų šeimos fondas (Kazickas Family Foundation). The programme provides Lithuanian diaspora youth with professional experience while promoting cultural immersion and leadership connections. Dominykas engaged 50 students through space career storytelling and technical discussion, highlighting Europe’s role in space innovation and inviting students to express their ambitions through postcards.

United States

2022 Karman Fellow Erika Wagner delivered two outreach activation events in Seattle, engaging 200 students. Sessions focused on commercial spaceflight, space medicine, and human space exploration. Students explored career pathways in the commercial sector and took part in hands-on postcard creation.

South Korea and the United States

2021 Karman Fellow Soyeon Yi led several activations across South Korea and the United States, showcasing a truly phenomenal effort in supporting international efforts in space inspiration. On 28 June 2025 at the Gwangju Science Center in South Korea, she engaged 150 students in sessions on human spaceflight, astronaut training, and Korea’s role in global space exploration, followed by interactive discussions and postcard drawing. On 8 July 2025, she hosted a speaking engagement and Postcards to Space activity for 30 students at the Mapo Center for Publication and Cultural Promotion. The following day, she led a session for 30 young patients at Yonsei Cancer Hospital School, focusing on courage, exploration, and imagining a better future for Earth and space. On 6 August 2025 in Washington, D.C., she introduced 20 Korean students to space science and shared her journey as Korea’s first astronaut. Students drew postcards exhibiting aspirations ranging from space careers to solving global challenges. The event was organised by the Ministry of Science and ICT of Korea and the Korea Foundation for Science and Creativity.

Indonesia

Karman Pioneer and Launch a Dream Challenge Winner Anna Cammaro has led the largest activation under the Launch a Dream Challenge, developing a nationwide programme supported by a dedicated online platform. Her initiative combines space-themed education, hands-on postcard creation, and a structured K–12 Teachers Challenge, enabling sustained engagement across age groups and communities.

Activities already delivered include a Grade 8 classroom session at SMPK 4 Penabur Jakarta, a high school activation with SMAN 12 Bekasi hosted at @america in Pacific Place Jakarta, and a session with SMAN 72 Priok, also at @america. The postcards reflected students’ space inspiration as well as their personal aspirations, from becoming doctors and veterinarians to pursuing law or engineering.

A broader rollout is underway in partnership with a middle school reaching approximately 200 students, an orphanage network serving around 1,200 young people, and the @america center, an education and cultural venue owned by the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta.

A dedicated Postcards to Space Corner has been established at @america to host ongoing participation. At the close of the campaign in 2026, postcards collected from across Indonesia will be gathered for a final national celebration.

Karman Week Activations

In September 2024, The Karman Project designed and printed 300 co-branded postcards for Karman Week, hosted in Bulgaria. Postcards were distributed to Bulgarian youth through The Karman Project’s local partner, EnduroSat.

In November 2023, The Karman Project designed, printed and distributed 200 co-branded postcards for Karman Week, hosted in Maldives. Postcards were distributed to Maldivian youth at the Hithadhoo Primary School, located on a remote island in the Laamu Atoll, with The Karman Project’s local partners Maldives Space Research Organisation and the Maldives Underwater Initiative.

In just one full year of partnership, The Karman Project and Club for the Future delivered significant global reach and tangible impact. The partnership activated 45 senior leaders across 31 countries (including 19 developing and emerging space nations), activated or planned activities in 17 countries, reached 1,800+ students with a remaining pipeline of 11,000+ students, and collaborated with 17 institutional partners ranging from ministries and science centres to hospitals, NGOs, and schools. These achievements demonstrate the catalytic potential of combining Karman’s global network with Club for the Future’s vision and educational mission: expanding our global footprint, empowering the next generation, and continuing to inspire a diverse, inclusive, and globally connected space future.

The Karman Project extends its sincere appreciation to Club for the Future for its partnership and support throughout this endeavour. This collaboration has meaningfully advanced our shared mission of inspiring future space leaders and scaling capacity-building efforts in underserved and emerging space regions around the world, and we look forward to continuing such efforts with all aligned partners.
