The Karman Project Appoints Rajeeshwaran Moorthy as Senior Advisor

The Karman Project is pleased to announce the appointment of Rajeeshwaran (Raj) Moorthy as Senior Advisor, strengthening the foundation’s leadership as it enters its next phase of growth. Raj is a globally recognised figure working at the intersection of space policy, venture strategy, and ecosystem development, and currently holds advisory appointments with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA via MSRO), the Maldives Space Research Organisation, and Axiom Space. He has been engaged in Karman’s strategic programming since 2025, including delivering an address at the Space Peace Prize Inaugural Gala at the Sydney Opera House and participating in a Space Finance panel during Karman Week in Bangalore, hosted by SatSure.

Raj’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment, following the launch of the Space Peace Prize - the foremost recognition in space dedicated to elevating and incentivising groundbreaking cooperative initiatives for across technical, scientific, cultural, and diplomatic domains. The Prize has been created to shine a global spotlight on projects advancing peace, responsibility, and tangible benefit for humanity through space. Alongside the Prize, The Karman Project continues to grow the world’s leading space fellowship programme and its suite of high-impact partnerships. In his new advisory capacity, Raj will support the foundation’s long-term sustainability, including the intended establishment of a dedicated fund to underpin future impact.

“The Karman Project is a leading NGO in the space sector, accelerating the democratisation of space by bringing together the right people, ideas and projects,” said Raj. “My mandate remains unchanged: capital should never be a bottleneck for any entity aspiring to create meaningful impact in the space sector. We are currently drafting multiple funding models tailored specifically for different types of space organisations to meet that very objective.”

Hannah Ashford, Managing Director of The Karman Project, added: “We are incredibly proud to be working with Raj. Having witnessed the transformative impact he has had through his work with UNOOSA and the Maldives Space Research Organisation, we know the experience, integrity, and foresight he brings will be invaluable as Karman continues to scale its mission.”

As the first official advisory engagement, Raj will attend the World Economic Forum in Davos from 19–23 January 2025, alongside The Karman Project’s leadership. The foundation is actively welcoming expressions of interest from strategic funders and philanthropists seeking to support a more equitable, cooperative, and responsible future in space, and invites enquiries for meetings during the Forum.
